This past summer, my partner and I had many picnics with each other and friends. My favorites, by far, were the themed potlucks. We had two of these this summer. One was to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and the other was to celebrate Canada Day. We decorated our yard and deck to theme (Mexican and Canadian items) and had our friends all bring themed vegetarian or vegan dishes to share.

Both picnics went great and made our local neighborhood news letter. We had about 15 people show up at each event and the food was incredible. We supplied the beer and then were able to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the great food and company outside in the evening sun. The themes made each picnic more fun and the food more diverse. I would recommend themed potluck picnics to everyone!
